Achieving gender parity requires a multi-faceted approach that analyzes the challenges and opportunities specific to each entity. While targets are important, gender parity is not just about numbers. UN Women has created the following resources to help you develop your implementation plan and make parity a reality. Please remember, every good implementation plan starts with accurate data, therefore please make sure to benefit from the UN Secretariat Gender Parity Dashboard and the UN System-wide Dashboard on Gender Parity.

The Secretary-General’s System-wide Strategy on Gender Parity recommends all UN system entities to align or develop specific gender strategies and implementation plans, which include specific targets, measures, and resources, to reach the goals and reflect the recommendations of the Strategy. This template sets out a simple framework for addressing the different facets of the System-wide Strategy. This tool is meant to serve as a starting point for designing and implementing a plan to achieve gender parity by 2028.

The objective of these Field-specific Enabling Environment Guidelines is to provide tailored guidance for personnel in the field, especially in mission settings, to help increase the representation of women and accelerate efforts to reach parity in the UN system
Research and data

The UN System-wide Dashboard on Gender Parity is a joint initiative by UNDP and UN Women to strengthen system-wide monitoring and data collection on the representation of women and men in the UN system, in support of the Secretary-Generalï's System-wide Strategy on Gender Parity. The dashboard uses the latest available data, with participation from nearly 40 UN entities.
